5.3 Piping material and connection dimensions
5.3.1 Material specifications
Only copper pipes in accordance with DIN EN 12735-1 (copper and copper alloys, seamless
round pipes made of copper for refrigeration and air conditioning, part 1: pipes for piping
systems) may be used for the refrigeration piping.
As the form of pieces, branches and distributors capillary according to DIN EN 1254-1 (up to
and including 108 mm nominal diameter), fittings for threaded connections according to DIN EN
1254-4 (typically made of bronze) and fittings with short for braze joints according to DIN EN
1254- 5 are used. Furthermore, welded fittings made of copper according to DIN 2607 are used.
The specialist trade supplies copper pipes for refrigeration according to DIN EN 12735-1.
Selection and processing of the copper pipes and fittings must be carried out strictly according
to the valid standards of air conditioning.
5.3.2 Connecting dimensions
Only copper pipes in accordance with DIN EN 12735-1 (copper and copper alloys, seamless
round pipes made of copper for refrigeration and air conditioning, part 1: pipes for piping
systems) may be used for the refrigeration piping.
For R410A systems, use the pipe diameters listed in table 5-1.
