5 Refrigerant pipe connection
In case of refrigerant leakage during installation, the affected environment must be
immediately ventilated.
Risk of death! If refrigerant is present on an open fire, toxic compounds may form.
After completion of the refrigeration work, a leak test must be carried out to prevent
leaks.
Risk of death! If refrigerants are found on heat sources such as heaters, ovens or stoves,
poisonous compounds can occur.
■ Selection and processing of the copper pipes and fittings must be carried out
strictly according to the valid standards and rules of air conditioning.
■ The maximum cable length between the VRF-AHU Kit and the external evaporator
must not exceed 8 m.
■ The VRF-AHU Kit may only be installed in R410A systems.
■ The VRF-AHU Kit can only be connected to Systemair VRF outdoor units.
■ The VRF-AHU Kit cannot control heat recovery systems SYSVRF AIR EVO HR.
■ Avoid air, dirt, dust, moisture or other foreign bodies get into the piping system.
This can lead to malfunctions and damage of the compressor.
■ The pipe connections may only be installed when indoor and outdoor units are
installed.
■ Do not allow water to enter the pipes, which can lead to malfunctions and damage
the compressor. Store the piping dry and protected.
■ All cooling pipes must be provided with adequate thermal insulation. Suitable
specialist materials (for example plastic foam hoses or plates with a wall thickness
of at least 10 mm) are available from the specialist trade.
Failure to observe these instructions will result in malfunction, compressor and consequential
damage.
5.1 Further documentation
Also observe the instructions in the manual for the outdoor unit, the external evaporator and
other system components during the installation.

5.2 Permissible pipe lengths and height differences
The VRF-AHU Kit can be connected to different VRF outdoor units, which set different
specifications for cable lengths and height differences. The exact specifications for the design of
the refrigerant lines are dependent on the outdoor unit used. You will find this information in the
corresponding documentation of the outdoor units.
The maximum cable length between the VRF-AHU Kit and the external evaporator must not
exceed 8 m.
