7.2 Assembly Note for 8118 Terminal Boxes and WAGO Push-Wire Connectors
7.3 Installation Conditions
Intrinsically safe circuits
- In intrinsically safe circuits, only insulated cables and conductors with a test voltage of
at least 500 V AC and a minimum quality of H05 may be used.
- The diameter of single conductors / finely stranded single conductors must not be
smaller than 0.1 mm.
- With regard to the insulation and separation of terminals and cables, it should be noted
that the insulation test voltage is derived from the sum of the rated operational voltages
of intrinsically safe and non-intrinsically safe circuits.
In the case of "intrinsically safe to earth" there is a minimum insulation voltage value of
500 V (otherwise double the rated operational voltage of intrinsically safe circuits).
In the case of "intrinsically safe to non-intrinsically safe" there is a minimum insulation
voltage value of 1500 V (otherwise double the rated operational voltage plus 1000 V).
Cables for Ex-i circuits must be run at least 8 mm away from the cables of other
intrinsically safe circuits.
The only exception to this is the use of cables in which the cores of the intrinsically safe
or the non-intrinsically safe circuit are surrounded by an earthed screen.

Insert the WAGO
push-wire connector into
the fixing carrier.
Snap into place on the
end plate
Snap on the mounting
rail
Disconnect from
the mounting rail
Loosening the connected conductor
Turn the conductor at the clamping point and simultaneously pull it out.
WARNING
Close the unused drilled holes and cable entries!
For unused drilled holes in the enclosure, use R. STAHL stopping plugs, for
unused cable entries, use R. STAHL plugs. Make sure that these components
have appropriate certification and meet the requirements of IEC/EN.
WARNING
For intrinsically safe devices, observe the ambient temperature!
The permitted ambient temperature at the built-in intrinsically safe devices
and components must not be exceeded.
