LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY
THIS LIMITEDWARRANTY("WARRANTY")APPLIESTOTHE PRODUCTS(ASDEFINEDBELOW)OF
SYNOLOGY,INC.AND ITSAFFILIATES,INCLUDING SYNOLOGYAMERICACORP, (COLLECTIVELY,
"SYNOLOGY").YOUACCEPTANDAGREETOBEBOUNDBYTHETERMSOFTHISWARRANTYBY
OPENINGTHEPACKAGECONTAININGAND/ORUSINGTHEPRODUCT.IFYOUDONOTAGREETO
THETERMSOFTHISWARRANTY,DONOTUSETHEPRODUCT.INSTEAD,YOUMAYRETURNTHE
PRODUCTTOTHERESELLERWHEREYOUPURCHASEDITFORAREFUNDINACCORDANCEWITH
THERESELLER'SAPPLICABLERETURNPOLICY.
Section 1. Definitions.
(a) "Category IProduct"

means Synology produc t m o d els DS1511+,
DS1010+, DS710+, DS509+, DS508, RS2211+,
RS2211RP+,RS411,RS409RP+,RS409+,RS409,
RS408-RP, RS408, RS407,RX1211,RX1211RP,
DX510,DX5, RX4, and RAMModule (1GB/2GB).
(c)"CategoryIIIProduct"meansallotherSynology
product models purchased by Customer after
March1,2008.(d) "Category IV Product" means
all other Synology product models purchased by
CustomerbeforeFebruary29,2008.(e)"Customer"
means the original person or entity purchasing
the Product from Synology or an authorized
Synology distributor or reseller. (f) "Product"
meansa Category IProduct,CategoryII Product,
Category III Product,or Category IV Product and
any hardware incorporated into the product by
Synologyandanyaccompanyingdocumentation.(g)
"Software"meanstheSynologyproprietarysoftware
that accompaniesthe Productwhen purchasedby
Customer,is downloadedbyCustomer at the Web
Site,orispre-installedontheProductbySynology,
and includes any firmware, associated media,
images,animations, video,audio,textandapplets
incorporatedintothe software orProductand any
updatesorupgradestosuchsoftware.(h)"Warranty
Period" means: (i)theperiod commencingonthe
date theProductis purchased by Customer and
ending (1) five yearsafter such dateforCategory
I Products; (2) three years after such date for
CategoryII Products;or (3)twoyears after such
dateforCategoryIIIProducts;or(ii)oneyearafter
such dateforCategoryIV Products. (i)"WebSite"
means the Synology web site located at www.
synology.com.
Section 2. Limited Warranty and Remedies
2.1 Limited Warranty.
Subjectto Section 2.7,
Synology warrants toCustomer that each Product
(a) willbe freeofmaterial defectsinworkmanship
and(b)undernormal usewillperformsubstantially
i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h S y n o l o g y ' s p u b l i s h e d
specificationsfortheProduct duringtheWarranty
Period.SynologywarrantstheSoftwareassetforth
in theaccompanying end user licenseagreement
providedwiththeProduct,ifany.
2.2 Product Registration.
Customers may
register Products with Synology and may obtain
the manufacturingdate for Category I Products,
CategoryII Productsand CategoryIIIProductsat
the WebSite.The failureto register a Productat
theWebSitewill notdiminish the warrantyrights
setforthinSection2.1.Synologyisnotresponsible
forCustomer'sfailureto identifythemanufacturing
dateofanyProduct.
2.3 Exclusive Remedy.
If Customer gives
noticeofnoncompliancewith anyofthewarranties
set forth in Section 2.1 within the applicable
Warranty Period in the manner set forth below,
then, upon verification of the noncompliance by
Synology, Synology will, at Synology's option:
(a) use commercially reasonable efforts torepair
the Product, or (b) replace the noncomplying
Productorpartthereofuponreturnofthecomplete
Product in accordance with Section 2.4 The
foregoing setsforth Synology's entire liability and
Customer's sole and exclusive remedy for any
breachofwarrantyunderSection 2.1oranyother
defect or deficiency in the Product. Customer
will reasonably assist Synology to diagnose and
validateany nonconformitywiththeProduct.The
warranty setforthinSection 2.1doesnot include:
(1) any warranty relating to the Software; (2)
physical installation or removal of the Product
from Customer'ssite;(3) visitstoCustomer'ssite;
(4) labor necessary to effect repairs or replace
defective parts other than during Synology's or
its contracted service providers' normal local
businesshours,exclusiveofweekendsandservice
providers’holidays;(5)anyworkwithanythirdparty
equipmentorsoftware;(6)anywarrantyofthehard
diskifinstalledbyCustomeroranyotherthirdparty;
or(7) any warranty of compatibility with the hard
disk.
2.4 Return.
AnyProductreturnedbyCustomer
under Section 2.3 must be assigned a Return
MerchandiseAuthorization ("RMA") number by
Synology before shipmentand mustbe returned
in accordancewith Synology's then currentRMA
procedures.Customermaycontactanyauthorized
SynologydistributororresellerorSynologySupport
to obtain assistance in obtaining an RMA, and
must provideproofofpurchaseand product serial
number when asking for such assistance. For
warrantyclaims,Customermustreturnthecomplete
ProducttoSynologyinaccordancewiththisSection
2.4tobeeligiblefor coverage underthisWarranty.
AnyProductreturnedwithoutanRMAnumber,or
any Product that has been disassembled(except
underthedirectionofSynology)willberefusedand
returnedtoCustomer atCustomer'sexpense.Any
Product that has been assigned a RMA number
must be returned in thesame conditionasitwas
receivedfromSynologyto theaddress designated
bySynology,freightpre-paid,inpackagingsufcient
toprotect thecontents thereofand with the RMA
numberprominentlydisplayedontheoutsideofthe
