SYNOLOGY, INC.
LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY
THIS LIMITEDWARRANTY("WARRANTY")APPLIESTOTHE PRODUCTS(ASDEFINEDBELOW)OF
SYNOLOGY,INC.AND ITSAFFILIATES,INCLUDING SYNOLOGYAMERICACORP, (COLLECTIVELY,
"SYNOLOGY").YOUACCEPTANDAGREETOBEBOUNDBYTHETERMSOFTHISWARRANTYBY
OPENINGTHEPACKAGECONTAININGAND/ORUSINGTHEPRODUCT.IFYOUDONOTAGREETO
THETERMSOFTHISWARRANTY,DONOTUSETHEPRODUCT.INSTEAD,YOUMAYRETURNTHE
PRODUCTTOTHERESELLERWHEREYOUPURCHASEDITFORAREFUNDINACCORDANCEWITH
THERESELLER'SAPPLICABLERETURNPOLICY.
Section 1. Definitions.
(a) "Category IProduct"

means Synology produc t m o d els DS1511+,
DS1010+, DS710+, DS509+, DS508, RS2211+,
RS2211RP+,RS411,RS409RP+,RS409+,RS409,
RS408-RP, RS408, RS407,RX1211,RX1211RP,
DX510,DX5, RX4, and RAMModule (1GB/2GB).
(c)"CategoryIIIProduct"meansallotherSynology
product models purchased by Customer after
March1,2008.(d) "Category IV Product" means
all other Synology product models purchased by
CustomerbeforeFebruary29,2008.(e)"Customer"
means the original person or entity purchasing
the Product from Synology or an authorized
Synology distributor or reseller. (f) "Product"
meansa Category IProduct,CategoryII Product,
Category III Product,or Category IV Product and
any hardware incorporated into the product by
Synologyandanyaccompanyingdocumentation.(g)
"Software"meanstheSynologyproprietarysoftware
that accompaniesthe Productwhen purchasedby
Customer,is downloadedbyCustomer at the Web
Site,orispre-installedontheProductbySynology,
and includes any firmware, associated media,
images,animations, video,audio,textandapplets
incorporatedintothe software orProductand any
updatesorupgradestosuchsoftware.(h)"Warranty
Period" means: (i)theperiod commencingonthe
date theProductis purchased by Customer and
ending (1) five yearsafter such dateforCategory
I Products; (2) three years after such date for
CategoryII Products;or (3)twoyears after such
dateforCategoryIIIProducts;or(ii)oneyearafter
such dateforCategoryIV Products. (i)"WebSite"
means the Synology web site located at www.
synology.com.
Section 2. Limited Warranty and Remedies
2.1 Limited Warranty.
Subjectto Section 2.7,
Synology warrants toCustomer that each Product
(a) willbe freeofmaterial defectsinworkmanship
and(b)undernormal usewillperformsubstantially
i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h S y n o l o g y ' s p u b l i s h e d
specificationsfortheProduct duringtheWarranty
Period.SynologywarrantstheSoftwareassetforth
in theaccompanying end user licenseagreement
providedwiththeProduct,ifany.
2.2 Product Registration.
Customers may
register Products with Synology and may obtain
the manufacturingdate for Category I Products,
CategoryII Productsand CategoryIIIProductsat
the WebSite.The failureto register a Productat
theWebSitewill notdiminish the warrantyrights
setforthinSection2.1.Synologyisnotresponsible
forCustomer'sfailureto identifythemanufacturing
dateofanyProduct.
2.3 Exclusive Remedy.
If Customer gives
noticeofnoncompliancewith anyofthewarranties
set forth in Section 2.1 within the applicable
Warranty Period in the manner set forth below,
then, upon verification of the noncompliance by
Synology, Synology will, at Synology's option:
(a) use commercially reasonable efforts torepair
the Product, or (b) replace the noncomplying
Productorpartthereofuponreturnofthecomplete
Product in accordance with Section 2.4 The
foregoing setsforth Synology's entire liability and
Customer's sole and exclusive remedy for any
breachofwarrantyunderSection 2.1oranyother
defect or deficiency in the Product. Customer
will reasonably assist Synology to diagnose and
validateany nonconformitywiththeProduct.The
warranty setforthinSection 2.1doesnot include:
(1) any warranty relating to the Software; (2)
physical installation or removal of the Product
from Customer'ssite;(3) visitstoCustomer'ssite;
(4) labor necessary to effect repairs or replace
defective parts other than during Synology's or
its contracted service providers' normal local
businesshours,exclusiveofweekendsandservice
providers’holidays;(5)anyworkwithanythirdparty
equipmentorsoftware;(6)anywarrantyofthehard
diskifinstalledbyCustomeroranyotherthirdparty;
or(7) any warranty of compatibility with the hard
disk.
2.4 Return.
AnyProductreturnedbyCustomer
under Section 2.3 must be assigned a Return
MerchandiseAuthorization ("RMA") number by
Synology before shipmentand mustbe returned
in accordancewith Synology's then currentRMA
procedures.Customermaycontactanyauthorized
SynologydistributororresellerorSynologySupport
to obtain assistance in obtaining an RMA, and
must provideproofofpurchaseand product serial
number when asking for such assistance. For
warrantyclaims,Customermustreturnthecomplete
ProducttoSynologyinaccordancewiththisSection
2.4tobeeligiblefor coverage underthisWarranty.
AnyProductreturnedwithoutanRMAnumber,or
any Product that has been disassembled(except
underthedirectionofSynology)willberefusedand
returnedtoCustomer atCustomer'sexpense.Any
Product that has been assigned a RMA number
must be returned in thesame conditionasitwas
receivedfromSynologyto theaddress designated
bySynology,freightpre-paid,inpackagingsufcient
toprotect thecontents thereofand with the RMA
numberprominentlydisplayedontheoutsideofthe
