146 Chapter 16: Safeguard Your Environment with Surveillance Station
Surveillance Station will be launched in a new browser window.
To connect via mobile devices:
You can download DS cam from Apple's App Store or Android Market to live view your IP cameras and play
recorded events from Surveillance Station with your iOS/Android device. For more information about DS cam,
see "Chapter 19: Communicate with Mobile Devices" on Page 174.
Enhance Mac Compatibility
Before watching events or live views with Mac Safari, do the following to make sure your browser settings are
appropriate:
1 Make sure your Safari is updated to version 5.1 or onward.
2 Go to Apple menu > Software Update and check for any possible Java updates to make sure your Java
applet is up-to-date.
3 Go to Applications > Utilities, and then open Java Preferences to do the following:
ļ‚§ On the list of Java applications, make sure the version of Java SE is 1.6.0_26 or onward.
ļ‚§ Move the 32-bit version of Java SE to the top of the application list (above 64-bit).
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or onward, tick Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications.
Manage IP Cameras
Go to Camera > Camera List under Management to add and edit cameras, set up recording schedule, and set
up the advanced settings: Motion Detection, Liveview Analytics, Camera Optimization, Patrol Settings,
Fisheye Dewarping.
To organize multiple cameras into camera groups for easier deployment, go to Camera > Camera Group. For
detailed instructions, click the figure icon at the top-right corner and then click Help.
Note: If you are not DSM admin or users belonging to the administrators group, you may have limited access due
to the privilege settings. To learn more about this, go to ā€œAssign Privilegesā€ on Page 154 or contact your
administrator.
