5.3 Installing the Driver in Windows XP For
Use With the Zero Config Utility
Use the Windows XP Zero Config utility as the adapter management tool
if using the LA-5030 adapter without the Symbol a/g Adapter
Configuration Utility.
Note: If a version of the Symbol a/g Adapter Configuration Utility
resides on the system, use Windows XP Add/Remove Programs
to uninstall it before installing the driver for use with the Windows
XP Zero Config utility.
To install the driver without Symbol a/g Adapter Configuration Utility in
Windows XP:
1. Ensure the previously installed Windows XP driver has been
removed.. The user is required to have SP1 installed to use the
latest LA-5030 driver in Windows XP.
2. If downloading the driver files from the Symbol Web site
(http://www.symbol.com/services/downloads), extract the files to the
computer.
3. Go to the location on the system where the files reside and select the
Driver Only Installer.exe application from the top-level folder.
The Symbol Technologies, Inc. Driver Only Installer dialog displays..
Click OK to continue.
4. The driver only installer window displays, stating the driver files are
in the process of being transferred.
The Windows XP Found New Hardware wizard displays.
5. When prompted for an installation method, select the Install the
software automatically (Recommended) checkbox.
Click Next.
