Manage Communication Configuration Settings
The AR 400 Reader supports RS232 and RS485 serial communication protocols, or TCP/IP network
communication protocol.
1. If you haven’t already done so, access the Reader Maintenance Console.
2. Click the Communication link on the left-hand side of any Reader Maintenance Console page. The
Communication Configurations page displays.
3. To configure the Reader’s Serial Port communication settings, enter the following information:
• Set the Protocol to Enable or Disable serial communication.
• Set the Data Rate to designate the baud rate for the selected protocol.
• (Applies only to RS485) Set the Node Address to designate the node address the AR 400
Reader will use in a RS485 serial bus network environment. It can be in the range of 0 ~ 30, or
set to Auto to be automatically set by the Matrics Visibility Manager.
