7.7.1 GPS Interface Card (S-Com)
The GPS interface card is only used in Master ITC's. It permits synchronised
transmission to other Master ITC's which is provided by the GPS time refer-
ence pulse. The GPS antenna is connected to the COM4 connector.

7.7.2 GPS Antenna
A professional reference GPS receiver with a timing pulse output is used to synchronise the
transmissions from all Maste ITC's in a system. The receiver provides positioning and tim-
ing data as well as raw satellite data for assisted GPS services and differential GPS. A tim-
ing pulse is available at a separate differential output. This signal is fully configured for po-
larity, pulse length, repetition frequency as well as compensation for the cable delay time to
nanosecond range.
The GPS antenna's housing has a robust and waterproof (IP65) construction made of plas-
tic and aluminium. It has been designed to reduce the build-up of snow which can reduce
reception quality. The unit has an operating temperature range between –40° to +85°C and
is designed to withstand the most extreme environmental conditions.
