DisablePCI IRQ routing of the new ACPI system.
pnpacpi=off
This option is for serial or parallel problemswhen your BIOS setupcontainswrong
interrupts or ports.
notsc
Disablethe time stampcounter. This option can be used to workaround timing
problems on your systems.It is a recent feature, if you see regressionson your
machine,especiallytime related or even total hangs, this option is worth a try.
nohz=off
Disablethe nohz feature. If your machinehangs,this option may help. Otherwise
it isof no use.
Once you have determined the right parameter combination, YaST automatically
writesthem to the boot loader configurationto make sure that the systemboots
properly next time.
If unexplainable errors occurwhen the kernel is loadedor duringthe installation,
selectMemoryTest in the boot menu to checkthe memory. If MemoryTest returns
an error, it is usuallya hardware error.
Fails to LaunchGraphical Installer
After you insertthe medium into your drive and reboot your machine,the installation
screen comesup, but after you selectInstallation, the graphical installer does not
start.
There are severalways to deal with this situation:
• Try to selectanotherscreen resolutionfor the installationdialogs.
• SelectText Mode for installation.
• Do a remoteinstallationvia VNC using the graphicalinstaller.
