To activate the conguration, click OK.
Usually, only the system administrator can activate and deactivate network interfaces.
If you want any user to be able to activate this interface via KInternet, select Enable
Device Control for Non-root User via Kinternet.
Setting Up Maximum Transfer Unit Size
You can set a maximum transmission unit (MTU) for the interface. MTU refers to the
largest allowed packet size in bytes. A higher MTU brings higher bandwidth efciency.
However, large packets can block up a slow interface for some time, increasing the lag
for further packets.

In YaST select a card from the list of detected cards in Network Devices > Network
Settings and click Edit.

In the General tab, select the desired entry from the Set MTU list.

Click Next.

To activate the conguration, click OK.
Conguring the Firewall
Without having to enter the detailed rewall setup as described in Section “Conguring
the Firewall with YaST” (Chapter 14, Masquerading and Firewalls, ↑Security Guide),
you can determine the basic rewall setup for your device as part of the device setup.
Proceed as follows:

Open the YaST Network Devices > Network Settings module. In the Overview
tab, select a card from the list of detected cards and click Edit.

Enter the General tab of the Network Settings dialog.
