6-3 Failover

Failover is the ability to automatically switch to a redundant path when a primary

path fails or becomes unavailable. Failover is automatic and requires no action on

the part of the Administrator.

The SC 836EL2 backplane has two expanders which allow effective failover and

recovery. This feature is not supported by the SC 836EL1 backplane.

Single Host Bus Adapter

In a single host bus conguration, the

backplane connects to one Host Bus

Adapter (HBA).
