Fix the battery pole clamps (+/-) with the “+ and - cable“. Connect know the “+ cable” with the terminal “symbol
battery +” and the “- cable” with the terminal “symbol battery -“ on the charge controller. At rst, connect the
“battery pole +” at the positive pole of the battery, afterwards the “battery pole -“ on the negative pole of the
battery. When disconnecting the battery, proceed in reverse order.
4.2 Connecting the solar module
Pay attention while placing the module to take a well-suited location concerning orientation and inclination, to
ensure the best and direct sunlight completely free of shading.
Next to the charge controller no other devices are allowed to be connected at the solar module.
Attention! Solar modules generate electricity when exposed to light. Even under diffuse light the full voltage is
available. Therefore, work carefully and observe the appropriate safety precautions. Do not touch any electrical
parts when the solar module is not covered and use insulated tools.
Open the junction box at the backside of the solar module. Inside of the junction box are terminals using “+” and
“-“ icons. The mean terminal (if any) stays free.
Remove a part of the insulation of the mounting cable, t it with ferrules (on site) and press it rmly with a
crimping tool. Run the two wires separated through the appropriated PG
glands (+/-). If necessary the sealing ring, which is located inside of the PG glands, must be removed to get the
cables through the PG glands.
Loosen the screws of the connection terminals with the icons “Solar module +” and “Solar module -“ and x the
cable.
Finally, the cable glands must be screwed rmly to the junction box and the top cover must be closed.
Connect the positive module pole to the charge controller icon “Solar module +” and the negative module pole
to the charge controller icon “Solar module -“.
4.3 Connection of consumers
Until the maximum output current 12 V consumers can be directly connected to the right terminal on the charge
controller with the symbol of a lamp (consumer or load) on it. Simply connect the positive pole of the consumer
cable to the charge controller symbol “consumer+” and the negative pole of the consumer cable to the charge
controller symbol “consumer-“.
12 V consumers having a larger current than the max output current of the charge controller must be connected
directly to the battery. In this case the deep discharge protection will be not active.
For the connection of AC appliances you will need an inverter (just equipped in 230 V solar power sets), which
will be connected directly to the battery. In this case the deep discharge protection will be not active.
If you connect an inverter, connect the positive pole of the inverter with the “battery pole +” and the negative
pole of the inverter with the “battery pole -“.
Note: If you do not use the consumers or the inverter for an extended period, please disconnect them that the
battery will not be discharged by the self consumption of consumers and inverter.
