1.0 Introduction
This manual provides safety and installation instructions for IEC
certifiedMaxeonphotovoltaicmodulescarryingtheTUVlogoonthe
productlabel(Figure1).

beyond company control. Therefore, Maxeon does not assume
responsibility for loss, damageor expense resulting from improper

1.2 Conformity to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
standards
This product meets or exceeds the requirements set forth by IEC
61215Edition3‐2016forPVModules,aswellasIEC61730Edition1
and2seriesforClassIIapplications.TheIECStandardcoversflat‐plate
PVmodulesintendedforinstallationonbuildingsandthoseintended
to be freestanding. This product is not intended for use where
artificiallyconcentratedsunlightisappliedtothemodule.
This manualshallbe used in combination with industry recognized
bestpractices.Modulesshouldbeinstalledbycertifiedprofessionals
only.
1.3LimitedWarranty
Module limited warranties are described in the Maxeon warranty
document obtainable at
www.sunpower.maxeon.com. Please read
thisdocumentformoreinformation.
Warrantiesdonotapplytoanyofthefollowing;
PVModulessubjectedto:(i)misuse,abuse,neglectoraccident;
(ii) alteration or improper installation (improper installation
includes,withoutlimitation, installation or arraythatdoesnot
complywithallMaxeoninstallationinstructionsandoperations
andmaintenanceinstructionsofanytype(asmaybeamended
andupdatedfromtimetotimeatMaxeon’ssolediscretion),and
all national, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, and
regulations);(iii)repairormodificationbysomeoneotherthan
an approved service technician of Maxeon; (iv) conditions
exceedingthevoltage,wind,snowloadspecifications;andany
other operational specification; (v) power failure surges,
lightning, flood, or fire; (vi) damage from persons, biological
activity,orindustrialchemicalexposure;(vii)glassbreakagefrom
impactorothereventsoutsideMaxeon’scontrol.
2.0 SafetyPrecautions
Beforeinstallingthisdevice,readallsafetyinstructionsinthismanual.
CoverallmodulesinthePVarraywithanopaqueclothormaterial
beforemakingorbreakingelectricalconnections.
Donotdisconnectanymoduleswhenitsinverterisfeedinginto
thegrid.Switchofftheinverterbeforedisconnecting,reinstalling
ormakinganyactionwiththemodules.
For connectors, which are accessible to untrained people, it is
imperative to use the locking connectors and safety clips, if
applicable, in order to defend against untrained personnel
disconnectingthemodulesoncetheyhavebeeninstalled.
All installations must be performed in compliance with all
applicableregionalandlocalcodes.
There are no user serviceable parts within the module. Do not
attempttorepairanypartofthemodule.
Installationshouldbeperformedonlybyqualifiedpersonnel.
Remove all metallic jewelry prior to installing this product to
reducethechanceofaccidentalexposuretolivecircuits.
Useinsulatedtoolstoreduceyourriskofelectricshock.
Donotstandon,walk,drop,andscratchorallowobjectstofallon
theglasssurfaceofthemodules.
Damagedmodules(brokenglass,tornbacksheet,brokenj‐boxes,
broken connectors, etc) can be electrical hazards as well as
laceration hazards. Contact with damaged module surfaces or
moduleframecancauseelectricshock.Damagedmodulesshould
be immediately disconnected from the electric system. The
module should be removed from array as soon as possible and
contactthesupplierfordisposalinstructions.
Unconnectedconnectorsmustalwaysbeprotectedfrompollution
(e.gdust,humidity,foreignparticles,etc),priortoinstallation.Do
notleaveunconnected(unprotected)connectorsexposedtothe
environment.Acleanassemblyenvironmentisthereforeessential
toavoidperformancedegradation.
Do not allowthe connectors to come in contact with chemicals
suchasgreases,oilsandorganicsolventswhichmaycausestress
cracking.
Donotinstallorhandlethemoduleswhentheyarewetorduring
periodsofhighwind.
Donotblockdrainholesorallowwatertopoolinornearmodule
frames
Contactyourmodulesupplierifmaintenanceisnecessary.

3.0 ElectricalCharacteristics
The module electrical ratings are measured under Standard Test
Conditions(STC)of1kW/m²irradiancewithAM1.5spectrumanda
celltemperatureof25°C.Maxeonmoduleshavespecificelectrical
characteristicsasshownonthedatasheets.
A photovoltaic module may produce more current and/or voltage
thanreportedatSTC.Sunny,coolweatherandreflectionfromsnow
orwatercanincreasecurrentandpoweroutput.Therefore,thevalues

Important!Please read this instruction sheet in its entirety
before installing, wiring, or using this product in any way.
Failure to comply with these instructions will invalidate the
MaxeonLimitedWarrantyforPVModules.
Danger!Moduleinterconnectspassdirectcurrent(DC)andare
sourcesofvoltagewhenthemoduleisunderloadandwhenitis
exposed to light. Direct current can arc across gaps and may
causeinjuryordeathifimproperconnectionordisconnectionis
made,orifcontactismadewithmodulecomponentsthatare
damaged.Donotconnectordisconnectmoduleswhencurrent
fromthemodulesoranexternalsourceispresent.
