With a mini USB port, it can be connected to the PC or Raspberry Pi directly.

www.sunfounder.com Both the buttons & joystick and touch input & pin header can be applied in this mode. MIDI Mode Only touch input can be used in this mode. You can check mark on each touch input of tones on the back of MagicKey board. It is used with alligator clip cables. One clip at a cable end bites the GND hole on the board and one at the other to the user. More clips connect the holes to conductors and the user inputs midi signals by touching the conductor (s).

www.sunfounder.com Test Install the Arduino IDE The code in this kit is written based on Arduino, so you need to install the IDE first. Skip it if you have done this. Now go to the https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software . On the page, check the software list Su nF o un d er on the right side under Download the Arduino Software. Find the one that suits your operation system and click to download. There are two versions of Arduino for Windows: Installer or ZIP file.

www.sunfounder.com Open Arduino IDE, select Sketch->Include Library-> Add .ZIP Library Su nF o un d er Select joystick.zip, and click Open. Then Include MIDIUSB library in the same way. Upload the Code There are three Arduino code folders in the code package download https://github.com/sunfounder/SunFounder_MagicKey , including gamepad, keyboard, and MIDI. When you upload a program to the MagicKey, it can realize the specific function.

www.sunfounder.com Here we take MagicKey-gamepad as an example. Take the following procedures. 1) Open the MagicKey-gamepad folder, double click the MagicKey-gamepad.ino file to open it Su nF o un d er 2) Choose the board: Tools ->Board->Arduino Leonardo. 3) Then select Tools ->Port and select the port you just checked on Device Manager. Click the Upload icon to upload the sketch to your board.

www.sunfounder.com If "Done uploading" appears at the bottom of the window, it means the sketch has been Check the Device un d er successfully uploaded. After the code is uploaded, check whether the device is recognized by the computer. Click Su nF o Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device and Printers. Different devices will be recognized for uploading different code. For instance, if you upload MagicKey-keyboard, it will be recognized as a Keyboard.

www.sunfounder.com Su nF o un d er If you upload MagicKey-gamepad, it will be recognized as a gamepad. Here we can configure the gamepad: right click on it, on the pop-up menu click Game controller settings -> Properties. Then push the stick or press any key to see the test result.

www.sunfounder.com Su nF o Preparations un d er Gamepad Mode In Gamepad Mode, a Raspberry Pi will be used with the MagicKey to make a gamepad for RetroPie games. Besides an SD card for Raspberry Pi and a power adapter, you still need to prepare the following accessories: 1 x MagicKey 1 x Mini USB Cable 1 x Raspberry Pi 1 x HDMI display with a cable Procedures 1. Upload the code MagicKey-gamepad to the MagicKey 2. Download and install the image of RetropPie to the SD card.

www.sunfounder.com Keyboard Mode In Keyboard Mode, the MagicKey will be used as keyboard with the four positions of joystick Su nF o un d er and the buttons mapping to different keys. The key value can be modified in code. Preparations 1 x MagicKey Board 1 x Mini USB Cable 1 x Computer Some plastic clay Several Alligator Clip Cables Procedures 1. Upload MagicKey-keyboard to MagicKey 2. Now you can start to play: pull the joystick, you can play many games by using just a few buttons.

www.sunfounder.com MIDI Mode In MIDI Mode, the MagicKey will be used as the input media for all kinds of virtual instruments. You can simulate a piano with bananas, or other conductors as the inputs for various instruments. Note: A MIDI player is needed here, and a software named VMPK (Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard) for computers and mobile devices is recommended. You can also use other similar MIDI Su nF o un d er player apps.

www.sunfounder.com 2. Burn MagicKey-midi code to MagicKey 3. Download VMPK (or other MIDI software) 4. Connect each touch input of MagicKey with an alligator clip cable and a banana. The un d er tones for every touch input are marked on the back of the board. Note: CONNECT your body and GND with an alligator clip cable. 5. Now, you can start you banana-piano show.
