begintrainingwiththeReceiverCollaronlevel1.IfyourdogdoesnotrespondtotheStaticCorrectiononlevel1
changethesettingtolevel2.Ifthereisnoresponsefromyourdogatlevel2changethesettingtolevel3.

NOTE: Onceyourdogbeginstraining,theymaybereluctanttoleavetheSafeZoneforcarridesorwalks.Always
removetheReceiverCollarandreplaceitwitharegularcollarandleashbeforetakingyourdogoutoftheSafe
Zone.YoumayneedtocarryyourdogofoutoftheSafeZoneifit’snotpossibletowalkyourdogoutusing
praiseandcommands.Inaddition,ifyouaregoingtowalkyourdogoutoftheSafeZoneyoushouldalwaysdo
thisinthesameareaoftheboundarysotheybecomemorefamiliarwiththisprocessinthefuture.

Lesson#1isintendedfordays1and2oftrainingandisdesignedtoprovideyourdogwithanawarenessof
theBoundaryZoneareaandhelpsthemassociatetheWarningToneswiththeBoundaryFlags.Duringthese
daysyoushouldtrainfor10to15minutesthreetimesaday.Theobjectiveistoteachyourdogtorecognizethe
Boundary Flags and the Warning Tone. 
Yourdogshouldbewearinganon-metalliccollar(withouttags)thattheycannotslipoutof.Youwillattachthat
collartoaleash.Youwillalsoneedseveralsmall-sizedtreats.
1.TurnontheReceiverCollarandholditinyourhand.HoldtheReceiverCollarbythefabriccollaranddonot
touchtheprobes.DonotputtheReceiverCollaronyourdog.(g.32)
2.WalkyourdogontheleashintotheSafeZone.
3.HoldtheReceiverCollaratyourdog’snecklevelandcontinuewalkingyourdogintheSafeZone.
4. Praise and reward your dog with a treat. 
5.HoldtheReceiverCollaratyourdog’snecklevelandbeginwalkingyourdogtowardtheBoundaryFlags.
6.WhenyourdoghearstheWarningTonefromtheReceiverCollarquicklyturnandwalkyourdogawayfrom
theBoundaryFlags(g.33).Donotverballycorrectthedog.
7.Whenyouareabout10feetawayfromtheBoundaryFlagsstoptopraiseyourdogandrewardthemwithatreat.
8.RepeatthisprocessseveraltimesinmultipleareasofyouryarduntilyourdogisretreatingfromtheBoundary
