How to Get the Syslinux and SIA Software
Note – Support for creating a USB ash drive version of SIA was introduced with SIA version
2.0.144 and is provided as a downloadable package from the Sun download site. Earlier versions
of SIA will not support running SIA from USB ash drive media.
Go to the SIA main page on the Sun web site:
http://www.sun.com/systemmanagement/sia.jsp
Navigate to your server’s download page.
Select and download the following les to a convenient le folder on a Windows XP or Linux
(Red Hat or SUSE) system.
■
syslinux-version.zip (where version is 3.52 or later)
■
sia-version.zip (where version is 2.0.144 or later)
Note – These les may be available separately or bundled in a single package.
Preparing the USB Flash Drive
This section describes how to prepare the USB ash drive in order to use it to run the SIA
software on your server. You can use either a Windows or a Linux system to prepare the USB
ash drive. The procedure is dierent for Windows and Linux systems; both procedures are
described below.

How to Prepare the USB Flash Drive on a Windows XP System
Extract (unzip) the contents of the downloaded syslinux-version.zip archive le.
Where version represents the Syslinux version number.
Insert the USB ash drive into a USB 2.0 port.
After Windows has found the new hardware, double-click on My Computer from the desktop.
