Tekturon
€69
This sequencer-driven
delay can be compared to
a lot of ‘per-tap’ delay
designs out there, but with
the D16 analogue flavour
and response baked in as
well. You’ve got delay
effects, sure, but Tekturon
is also capable of creative
effects and spatialising
production techniques. It’s
helped in this by its filter
(low-pass, band-pass,
high-pass, with Cutoff and
Resonance), which sounds
really superb.
Back to the main event
– that sequencer is
actually eight sequencers,
controlling up to 16 steps.
First of all, you can
sequence the Delay time
and Feedback for each
step, each of these
multiplying the control
you’ve set on the interface
by a factor you set in the
sequencer. The rest of the
sequenced parameters
– Pan, Spread, Filter Type,
Cutoff and Resonance
– are absolute values,
overriding what you set in
the interface.
Texturon isn’t only
brilliant fun, and as
in-depth as you care to go
with it – it also sounds
brilliant, with presets such
as the Trance Pluck
Repeaters showcasing
exactly what it can do to
not only delay but
reimagine your sounds.
The only niggle with
Tekturon that we found
was that unbypassing will
often release sounds
already saved into the
delay buffer.

Sequencer-driven
effect plugins
Step up to the plate and make your most rhythmic
effects ever with these four rhythmic processors
Sinevibes Sequential €49
This Audio Units-only processor might just be the ultimate sequencing
plugin from the top name in sequenced effects. Sequential loads up on
the first of eight pages of a 32-step sequencer and 19 lanes.
Frequency shifting, bit depth, flanging, granulation, filtering (including
a circuit-bent option), ring mod, drive, three oscillators and loads more
are available to sequence here. Switch one on for one of the 32 steps in
your pattern (or reduce pattern length to any number below this), and
adapt the strength of each effect using its individual slider. Sequential
starts out monophonic (one effect can be applied per step), but can be
switched to polyphonic for an all-out effect assault.
The effects all sound great, and Sequential inspires with its tonal
effects. It’d be nice to be able to set depth for each step rather than
each lane, even if it crowded the interface somewhat. There are more
customisation options with copy, paste and loop controls, and the whole
pattern can be adjusted for Swing, Transition, Duration and Timing.
