Installation Instructions (continued)
Continue moving along the foundation, measuring
each area to assure proper fit, cutting the panels if
necessary and then fastening the panels to the wall
using either adhesive, and or Styro Tapit fasteners.
Push each panel firmly against one another to keep
the seam gaps at a minimum.
If the project requires that panels be placed on the
foundation over walkways and driveways be sure
to leave an inch of space at the bottom edge of
each panel. This will protect the panel edge as the
walkway or driveway heaves upward during natural
freeze/thaw cycles.
Seams and fastener heads can be completley hidden
with clear drying caulk and matching stone
aggregate.
First, run a bead of clear caulk along the seam or
over the fastener head, then simply hand seed some
matching stone to cover it up.
This method can also be used to repair damaged
panels. Caulk all seams between the panels and the
siding, window-wells and J-Channel when the
project is finished.
- Frequently Asked Questions
1) How are the FP PANELS cut?
A: They can be cut from the back (foam side) with a utility
knife and snapped like drywall or with a circular saw fi tted
with a masonry blade.
2) How is the FP PANEL installed?
A: The FP Panel can be adhered with rigid foam adhesive
(PL 300, Clear Mastic) and or fasteners.
3) How are seams covered?
A: Aggregate Panels: Matching stone (sold in 5 pound bags)
can be hand seeded into caulked seams and corners.
Stucco Textured Panels: Seams and corners can be caulked
with concrete grey or clear caulk. In many cases the seams
between panels is not very noticeable and can be caulked
and left as is.
4) How are corners handled?
A: Corner pieces are made by cutting the panel ends on an angle.
When pressed together on the foundation they form a corner where the
two panel ends meet. Small pieces of J-Channel can also be cut to use
as corner pieces.
5) Are the FP PANELS Weed-Wacker Resistant?
A: Yes, the fi nish is extremely durable. The
FP PANELS
will withstand
moderate to heavy impact damage.
6) Can the FP PANELS be repaired?
A: Aggregate FP PANELS: By first caulking damaged areas with clear
or matching colored caulk, Matching Stone (sold in 5 pound containers)
can be hand seeded to disguise any damage.
Stucco Textured FP PANELS: Damaged areas can be Sticky Meshed
and coated with TUFF II in a color that matches the color of the panel.
7) Can I use the FP PANELS under a Mobile Home as Modular
Skirting or around a Sunroom?
A: Yes, the FP PANELS panels work great as modular skirting and
around sunrooms.
8) Can I use the FP PANELS indoors?
A: Yes, but the FP PANELS panels are not fi re rated so please check
with your local building codes.
9) Do I need to use J-Channel trim with the FP PANELS?
A: J-Channel trim is optional. If the siding on your house extends
out far enough to cover the top of the panel the J-channel is not
always necessary.
10) Can I use the FP PANELS on Stone or Block foundations?
A: Yes. By attaching J-Channel up top and fasteners below grade the
panels will stay in place very nicely. Adhesive can also be used to
increase bond. Even if the panel doesn't contact the foundation
throughout it's entirety, the pockets of "dead air" will work to
increase overall R value. Fasteners can also be used above grade
if necessary. Fastener heads are easily disguised with clear
caulk and matching stone.
11) Are the FP PANELS available in other sizes and textures?
A: Yes, the FP PANELS can be special ordered in any size up to 4' x 8'
in 1", 1.5" and 2" thicknesses. The FP PANELS are great for walk-out
basements, window enclosures, wall panels etc.,
12) Can the FP PANELS be used below grade?
A: Yes, in fact when installing the FP PANELS around the foundation
on a home it's important to dig down 6 to 12" around the foundation
so the panel sits below grade. This helps tremendously in combating
foundation heat loss.
13) Will the FP PANELS work around crawl spaces?
A: Yes, any area that will benefi t from increased R-Value and an
attractive texture is ideal.
