the security panel provides a summary of
the configurable parameters and related
information. Refer to Appendix A for a rep-
resentative view. The security panel is held
in place by means of four rubber bumpers
(“feet”) that have built-in screws. Using
your fingers, remove the four bumpers so
that the panel can be removed. Refer to
Figure 2 for a detailed view of the configu-
ration switch assemblies.
Headphone Output Gain
Range, Mic Preamp Gain,
and P48 Phantom Power
On the unit, two pushbutton switches,
located on the bottom of the Model 215,
can be used to set the headphone out-
put gain range. They can also be used to
select the gain of the microphone pre-
amplifier and the on/off status of the P48
phantom power source. A 2-digit LED
display provides a status indication of all
these functions.
As previously mentioned, the STcontroller
software application can also be used
to view and revise the gain of the micro-
phone preamplifier and the on/off status
of the P48 phantom power source.
Selecting the Headphone Output Gain
Range
Upon application of Model 215 power
the 2-digit display, as part of its power-up
sequence, will first display the firmware
version and then the current setting of the
headphone output gain range. The setting
will be either low or high. During the brief
interval when the headphone gain range
is displayed the two pushbuttons can be
used to change the setting.
Local Selection of Mic Preamp Gain
The two pushbutton switches can be
used to select the gain of the microphone
preamplifier. The range is 19 to 64 dB in
3-dB steps. There’s no problem changing
the gain setting while the unit is operating.
Small audio clicks or pops might occur
during gain transitions, but this shouldn’t
be a major issue as long as associated
monitor loudspeakers are temporarily
attenuated or muted. As expected, the
2-digit LED display will directly indicate,
in dB, the selected amount of gain.
