Thisallowseasyintegrationwithadditional
wiredorwirelesstalkbackdevices.The
remoteinputselectfunctionisprovided
expresslyforaudiopostapplications,al-
lowingautomaticswitchingoftheStudio-
Comm’sinputsourcewheneverthemode
ofarecordingsystemchangesbetween
playbackandrecord.Thisfunction,re-
ferredhistoricallyasPEC/directswitching,
allowsaccuratemonitoringduringdialog
replacement,Foley,orotheroverdub
sessions.
InmostcasesModel35TalentAmplifier
moduleswillserveastheuser’shead-
phonecontrolcenter.EachModel35
containsamplifiercircuitry,stereolevel
control,monoswitch,andtwooutputjacks.
Forconvenience,amicrophonemounting
standadapterisincludedwitheachModel
35.Inadditiontothetalentamplifierout-
put,theModel74alsoprovidesastereo
line-levelcueoutput.Thisallowsinterfac-
ingwithotherheadphonecuesystemsor
couldconnecttoatransmissionsystem
associatedwitharemotelylocatedstudio
orcontrolroom.Theline-levelcueoutput
canalsoserveasasourceof“slate”audio
forworkstations.

It’sinterestingtonotethatwhileeach
ofthetwosurroundinputshasachan-
nelthat’slabeledLFE,thecorrespond-
ingchanneloneachofthetwomonitor
outputsislabeledSUB.ThetermLFE,an
abbreviationforlow-frequencyenhance-
ment,isusedtoindicateanaudiosource.
SoLFEisappropriateinreferencetothe
inputsSurroundAandSurroundB.Butthe
termSUB,shortforsubwoofer,iscorrect
forthemonitoroutputsastheyareintend-
edtoconnecttoapoweredsubwooferor
anamplifierassociatedwithasubwoofer
loudspeaker.Inthiscasethemonitor
outputsarefeedingsubwooferloudspeak-
erswhicharereproducingtheLFEcontent
