1. ABOUT VETGUARDIAN
1.1) Brief Description
VetGuardian is a remote vital sign monitor for animals. It can measure a stationary, non-
moving subject’s respiration and heart rate from up to 4 feet away without any physical
contact. Users can run vital sign monitoring sessions in the VetGuardian application, which
also displays readings and stores electronic medical records and patient demographic
information.
1.2) Major Components
The VetGuardian platform is comprised of 6 major components:
● VetGuardian Device: Collects and interprets vital sign data; Attaches to base
(included)
● Clamp: Attaches to VetGuardian device by means of a screw (included)
● Power Adapter: Supplies power by means of a cord (included)
● Base: Bolsters and holds in place the VetGuardian device (not included, an IV
Pole can be used as the mounting stand)
● Device: Computer, Windows’s tablet (not included)
1.3) Personas
Stakeholders of VetGuardian fall into 3 types:
● ‘Application User’ refers to a person using the VetGuardian Application, usually an
animal health provider such as a Veterinarian or Technician.
● ‘Subject’ or ‘Animal Patient’ refers to an animal whose vital signs are being
monitored or whose information is saved in the VetGuardian application.
● ‘Admin’ refers to the primary user(s) of the VetGuardian Application, who can
access the Admin Settings section of the VetGuardian Application.
