SECTION 5: FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
FLAMMABILITY PROPERTIES
Flashpoint: >120°F; will not support combustion at ambient temperatures
Flammable Limits: LEL:0.7; UEL: 5.4
Auto ignition temperature: 686°F
FIREFIGHTING PROCEDURES
General Hazard: During a fire smoke may contain the original material in addition to toxic and or irritating
compounds. Avoid heat sparks or open flame. Decomposition releases oxygen, which can intensify the fire.
Highly flammable vapors – may cause a floating fire hazard
Firefighting Instructions: For small (incipient) fires, use media such as “alcohol” foam, dry chemical, or carbon
dioxide. For large fires, apply water from as far as possible. Use very large quantities (flooding) of water applied
as a mist or spray; solid streams of water may be ineffective. Cool all affected containers with flooding quantities
of water.
Firefighting Equipment: Firefighters should wear NICSH/MSHA approved self-contained, positive pressure
breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.
Hazardous Combustion Products: During fire, smoke may contain the original material in addition to toxic and/or
irritating compounds. Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions. Nature of decomposition
products not known.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Not established
SECTION 6: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures
Personal Precautions
Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Use personal protective equipment as required. Ensure
adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapors or mists. Avoid generation of dust.
Other Information
Refer to protective measures listed in Sections 7 & 8
Environmental Precautions
Environmental Precautions
Refer to protective measures listed in Sections 7 & 8.
Methods and Material for Containment and Cleaning Up
Methods for Containment
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so
Methods for Cleaning Up
Immediately place absorbent material in a sealed water-filled metal container to avoid spontaneous
combustion of absorbent material contaminated with this product. Pick up and transfer to properly
labeled containers.
