Introduction 1 INTRODUCTION Packaging Information The StorCase Technology InfoStation SNMP Module is shipped in a container designed to provide protection and prevent damage during shipment, as confirmed by the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA Procedure 1A). The module was carefully inspected before and during the packing procedure at the factory. Evidence of any damage to the module should be reported to the shipper immediately.
2 Introduction General Description CAUTION: The SNMP Module contains NO USER SERVICEABLE parts inside the unit. Refer ALL servicing to qualified service personnel! NOTES: The configuration and use of the StorCase InfoStation SNMP Module requires a certain level of expertise and experience on the part of the user/ integrator. Since there are many configuration options and variables (ie. host platforms, applications, etc.
Introduction 3 Features: Allows monitoring of chassis environmental parameters and component statuses (drive bays, power supplies, cooling modules, I/O repeater modules, RAID modules, SAF-TE processor boards) Compatible with third party management software (ie. HP Openview, CA Unicenter, IBM NetView, SunNet Manager) Complies with IEEE 802.3i 10BASE-T, IEEE 802.
4 Introduction Front Panel (Figure 2) RJ-45 UTP Port - Connects to 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX network. NOTE: SNMP Module supports 10Mbps only. LEDs - Provide the following information: Activity - ON = Indicates transmission and receiving of data. Link - ON = OFF= Indicates valid network connection. Indicates no network connection/link. If there is no link (LED is OFF): - Make sure power is ON at both ends of the network connection.

6 SNMP Configurations Set-Up NOTES: Default Static IP address = 192.168.1.24 Default Submask address = 255.255.255.0 InfoMon must be at least Rev. 3.1 or higher to change the SNMP Module IP address. The latest InfoStation UI firmware can be downloaded from the StorCase web site. Refer to the InfoMon User's Guide for further information. StorCase recommends the use of Static IP addresses when configuring the SNMP Module. A default Static IP address has already be assigned to the module.
SNMP Configurations 7 SNMP Management Software The InfoStation SNMP Module must be used in conjunction with third party SNMP management software (such as HP Openview for example). Refer to your SNMP software manufacturer's documentation for further information. MIB (Management Information Base) StorCase MIB file(s) must be loaded and compiled using the third party SNMP management software (MIB compiler is included with software).
