Use an extension cable with the correct
cable cross section, 19.3.
Use a splash-proof extension cable
approved for outdoor use.
WARNING
An incorrect mains voltage or an incorrect
mains frequency while working may lead to
overvoltage in the lawn scarifier. This may
result in damage to the lawn scarifier.
Ensure that the mains voltage and the
mains frequency of the power supply corre‐
spond to the information contained in the
rating plate on the lawn scarifier.
If several electrical appliances are connected
to a power strip, electrical components may
become overloaded while working. The electri‐
cal components may heat up and cause a fire.
This may result in serious or fatal injury to
people and damage to property.
Only connect one lawn scarifier to a socket.
Do not connect a lawn scarifier to power
strips.
An incorrectly routed extension cable may
become damaged and people may trip over it.
This may result in injury to people and dam‐
age to the extension cable.
Route the extension cable so that it cannot
touch the lawn scarifier.
Route and mark the extension cable so that
people cannot trip over it.
Route the extension cable so that it is not
stretched or tangled.
Route the extension cable so that it does
not become damaged, kinked or crushed or
chafe.
Protect the extension cable from heat, oil
and chemicals.
Route the extension cable on dry ground.
The extension cable warms up while working.
If the heat cannot dissipate, it may cause a
fire.
If using a cable reel: uncoil the cable reel
fully.
4.8 Working
WARNING
In certain situations, the user may no longer
be able to concentrate on their work. This may
result in the user stumbling, falling and becom‐
ing seriously injured.
Work calmly and carefully.
If the light and visibility conditions are poor:
do not use the lawn scarifier.
Operate the lawn scarifier alone.
Watch out for obstacles.
Do not tilt the lawn scarifier.
Work standing on the ground and maintain
balance.
If signs of fatigue occur: take a break.
If scarifying or combing on a slope: scarify
or comb across the slope.
Do not scarify or comb on steep slopes.
The turning roller may cut the user. This may
result in serious injury to the user.
Do not touch a turning roller.
If the roller is blocked by an object: switch the
lawn scarifier off and detach the extension
cable connector from the mains plug of the
lawn scarifier. Only then remove the object.
If the lawn scarifier changes or starts to
behave differently when working, it may not be
in safe condition. This may result in serious
injury to people and damage to property.
Finish working, switch the lawn scarifier off,
detach the extension cable connector from
the mains plug of the lawn scarifier and
consult a STIHL specialist dealer.
The lawn scarifier may cause vibrations when
working.
Wear gloves.
Take breaks.
If signs of a circulatory disturbance occur:
consult a doctor.
If the roller hits a foreign object when working,
the roller or parts of it may be thrown up at
high velocity. This may result in injury to peo‐
ple and damage to property.
Remove foreign objects from the work area.
Mark and bypass obstacles (e.g. roots, tree
trunks).
When the control bar is released, the roller
continues to turn for a short time. This may
result in serious injury to people.
Wait until the roller is no longer turning.
Sparks can be produced if the turning roller
hits a hard object. Sparks may cause fires in
highly flammable environments. This may
result in serious or fatal injury to people and
damage to property.
Do not work in a highly flammable environ‐
ment.
DANGER
If working near live wires, the roller may come
into contact with live wires and damage them.
This may result in serious or fatal injury to the
user.
