however, that under certain
conditions the footwear does not
provide sufficient protection and
therefore the wearer of the footwear
should always take additional
protective measures.
The electrical resistivity of this boot
model can be significantly impaired
by bending, dirt or moisture. This
boot cannot perform its intended
function properly when worn in wet
conditions. It is therefore necessary
to ensure that the product is able to
perform its intended function of
conducting away electrical charges
and to provide protection during the
period of its use. The user is
therefore advised if necessary to
specify an on-site test of the
electrical resistivity and to perform
that test regularly at frequent
intervals.
Footwear of classification I can
absorb moisture during extended
periods of wearing and may become
conductive in damp and wet
conditions. If the footwear is worn in
conditions where the sole material
becomes contaminated, the user
should test the electrical properties of
his/her footwear every time before
entering a hazardous area. In areas
where antistatic footwear is worn the
earth resistivity should be such that
the protective function provided by
the footwear is not negated.
When using the footwear, no
insulating components except for
normal socks should be inserted
between the insole of the footwear
and the user’s foot. If an insert is
used between the insole of the
footwear and the user’s foot, the
electrical properties of the footwear/
insert interface should be tested.
Inserts / attachments
Safety footwear manufactured and
supplied with inserts / attachments
has been tested in that state and
meets the requirements of the
applicable standard. When replacing
the inserts, the footwear only retains
its tested protective properties if the
insert is replaced by an equivalent
identical insert made by the footwear
manufacturer.
Safety boots and work shoes that are
orthopedically modified may only be
modified using orthopedic inserts and
finishing materials approved by the
manufacturer.
The manufacturer’s making-up
instructions for orthopedic
modifications must be followed.
Caution! Inserting non-identical
replacement inserts may result in the
safety footwear no longer fulfilling the
requirements of the applicable
standard. The protective properties
of the footwear may be impaired.
The use of attachments like gaiters or
climbing irons can also impair the
function of the product.
These indications apply to the
following products (refer to Table 1
on the inside cover of this Instruction
Manual for the product number
allocation):
1)= Safety shoe with steel toe cap
2)= Safety boot with steel toe cap
and steel midsole
