18 After Finishing Work
17.5 Standard Carburetor Setting
The carburetor comes from the factory with a standard
setting. This setting provides an optimum fuel-air mixture
under most operating conditions.
To return the carburetor to the standard setting:
Shut off the engine and engage the chain brake.
Turn the high speed screw (H) clockwise as far as stop,
then turn it back a 3/4 turn counter-clockwise.
Turn the low speed screw (L) clockwise as far as stop,
then turn it back a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise.
18.1 Preparing for Transportation or Storage
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from unintended
activation or unauthorized use, shut off the engine and
engage the chain brake before transporting the chain saw or
putting it down. To reduce the risk of injuries from the sharp
cutters on the chain, always cover the guide bar with the
chain scabbard before transporting or storing the saw.
To prepare the saw for transportation or storage:
Shut off the engine, @ 15.
Release the chain brake and loosen the chain, @ 12.2.
Re-engage the chain brake.
Slide a chain scabbard over the guide bar so that it covers
the entire guide bar.
Before using the saw, remember to re-tension the chain.
NOTICE
The chain contracts as it cools down. Failing to loosen the
chain after finishing work can damage the drive shaft and
bearings.
19.1 Transporting the Chain Saw
When transporting the chain saw:
Slide a chain scabbard over the guide bar so that it covers
the entire guide bar.
When transporting the saw by hand, hold it by the front
handle with the guide bar pointing backwards, opposite
the direction in which you are walking. Place the muffler
away from the body.
When transporting the saw in a vehicle, cover the guide
bar with a chain scabbard. Secure and position the chain
saw to prevent turnover, fuel spillage, impact and
damage.
