WARNING
If the chain brake is disengaged, the
chain may rotate
-
risk of injury.
Hold your chainsaw as described in the
instruction manual and do not touch the
rotating saw chain.
N Disengage the chain brake.
NOTICE
The calibration process is aborted if the
throttle trigger is released before the
saw is properly calibrated. It is then
necessary to restart the calibration
process.
N Keep the throttle trigger fully
depressed.
NOTICE
The chainsaw can be incorrectly
calibrated if the throttle trigger is not kept
fully depressed during calibration. This
can damage the saw.
N Keep the throttle trigger fully
depressed.
N Depress the throttle trigger for at
least 30 seconds and hold it in that
position.
The engine accelerates and the chain
rotates. Calibration of the saw takes
place. Engine speed varies noticeably
during calibration.
If the engine stalls:
N Make another attempt to calibrate
the saw.
If the engine stalls again:
N Engage the chain brake.
N Do not use your chainsaw and
contact your STIHL servicing dealer
for assistance. Your saw has a
malfunction.
As soon as the engine speed drops
noticeably:
N Release the throttle trigger.
The engine runs at idling speed Your
saw is calibrated and ready for
operation.
N If the engine is down on power,
check the spark arresting screen in
the muffler.
N Wait for the muffler to cool down.
N Take out the four screws.
N Remove the muffler exhaust
casing (1).
N Bend back the retaining tabs (2).
N Pull out the spark arresting
screen (3).
N Clean the spark arresting screen. If
the screen is damaged or heavily
carbonized, fit a new one.
N Refit the spark arresting screw in
the reverse sequence.
