17 Adjusting the Carburetor
Open the shroud locks (1) by turning them 1/4 turn
counter-clockwise with the combination wrench.
Remove the shroud (2).
Pull out the shutter (3).
Re-insert the shutter as shown above.
Push the shutter into the slot until it stops.
Place the shroud in position.
Tighten the shroud locks until you hear an audible click.
17.3 Adjusting the Carburetor for Operation at High
Altitude
If you use the chain saw at high altitude, a slight adjustment
of the carburetor setting may be necessary.
Start the engine, @ 14.4.
Disengage the chain brake, @ 15.1.
Warm up the engine by opening and closing the throttle for
about 1 minute.
Turn the high speed screw (H) slightly clockwise (leaner)
until the engine delivers optimum power again. Do not turn
further than stop.
NOTICE
If the setting is too lean there is a risk of engine damage due
to insufficient lubrication and overheating. After returning
from high altitude, reset the carburetor to the standard
setting.
17.4 Adjusting the Carburetor for Operation at
Temperatures Below 14 °F (- 10 °C)
If you use the chain saw at temperatures below 14 °F
(- 10 °C), the engine may not accelerate properly. A slight
adjustment of the carburetor setting may be necessary.
Start the engine, @ 14.4.
Disengage the chain brake, @ 15.1.
Warm up the engine by opening and closing the throttle for
about 1 minute.
