If there is a noticeable loss of engine
power:
N Turn the twist lock 90°
counterclockwise.
N Remove the shroud upwards.
N Remove the air filter upwards.
N Wash the filter in STIHL special
cleaner (special accessory) or a
clean, non-flammable solution (e.g.
warm soapy water) and then dry.
NOTICE
Do not clean a fleece filter (option) with
a brush.
Always replace a damaged filter.
Exhaust emissions are controlled by the
design of the engine and components
(e.g. carburation, ignition, timing and
valve or port timing).
The chainsaw adjusts itself
automatically for optimum performance
during operation. Calibration enables
the saw to be adjusted faster for
optimum performance.
If the outside temperature is below –
10°C or the engine is cold:
N Start the engine and disengage the
chain brake.
N Warm up the engine by opening and
closing the throttle for about 1
minute.
N Shut off the engine.
Calibrate the chainsaw as follows:
N Set Master Control lever to
position }.
N Engage the chain brake.
N Start the engine without depressing
the throttle trigger. The engine runs
and the Master Control lever
remains in position }.
N Run the engine for at least 30
seconds but no more than 60
seconds without depressing the
throttle trigger.
