Version with Easy2Start
N Thread the rope from above through
the rope guide bush (1) and rope
rotor (2) and secure with a simple
overhand knot
N Coat the bearing bore in the rope
rotor with non-resinous oil
N Slip the rope rotor onto the starter
post (3) – turn it back and forth a
little until the anchor loop of the
rewind spring engages
N Push the carrier onto the post until
the anchor loop of the spring
engages
N Refit the pawls (4) in the carrier and
slip the washer (5) over the starter
post
N Press the spring clip (6) on to the
starter post and over the pegs of the
pawl with a screwdriver or suitable
pliers – the spring clip must point in
the clockwise direction – as shown
in the picture
Tensioning the rewind spring
N Make a loop in the unwound starter
rope and use it to turn the rope rotor
six full revolutions in the direction of
the arrow
N Hold the rope rotor tight – pull out
the twisted rope and untangle it
N Release the rope rotor
N Slowly let go of starter rope so that
it winds onto the rotor
The starter grip must be drawn firmly
into the rope guide bush. If it tips
sideways: increase the spring tension by
another turn.
N Remove one turn of the rope from
the rotor
N Mount the fan housing on the
crankcase

N Remove the rope rotor

When the starter rope is fully
extended it must be possible to
rotate the rotor at least another
half turn. If not, the spring has
been tensioned too tightly and
may break!
