18 Troubleshooting
Fault LEDs on the
battery
Cause Remedy
Pole pruner does not
run when switched
on.
1 LED flashing
green.
State of charge of the
battery is too low.
Charge battery as described in the User Manual for
chargers STIHL AL 101, 300, 500.
1 LED emits red
light.
The battery is too warm or
too cold.
Remove the battery.
Allow the battery to cool down or warm up.
3 LEDs flash red. There is a malfunction in
the pole pruner.
Remove the battery.
Clean electrical contacts in the battery
compartment.
Insert battery.
Switch on the pole pruner.
If 3 LEDs continue flashing red: Do not use the pole
pruner and contact a STIHL specialist dealer.
3 LEDs light
up red.
The pole pruner is too hot. Remove the battery.
Allow the pole pruner to cool down.
4 LEDs flash red. There is a fault in the
battery.
Remove battery and reinsert it.
Switch on the pole pruner.
If 4 LEDs continue to flash red: Do not use the
battery and contact your STIHL dealer for
assistance.
No electrical contact
between pole pruner and
battery.
Remove the battery.
Clean electrical contacts in the battery
compartment.
Insert battery.
Pole pruner or battery
damp.
Allow pole pruner or battery to dry.
Pole pruner cuts out
during operation.
3 LEDs light
up red.
The pole pruner is too hot. Remove the battery.
Allow the pole pruner to cool down.
There is an electrical fault. Remove battery and reinsert it.
Switch on the pole pruner.
Runtime of pole
pruner is too short.
The battery is not fully
charged.
Fully charge battery as described in the User
Manual for chargers STIHL AL 101, 300, 500.
