the level of respiratory protection
needed for the material being cut and
worksite-specific conditions.
Even if wet cutting at the recommended
water pressure, an operator who is
working with the machine for more than
two hours in one day, along with any
bystanders, should always wear a
NIOSH-approved respirator that is rated
for the material being cut and
appropriate for worksite-specific
conditions.
Consult your employer for information
relating to the respirator needed for the
material you are cutting and your
worksite-specific conditions. Your
employer is likely to have in place an
OSHA-required respiratory protection
program and can provide information
regarding the type and level of
respiratory protection needed for your
worksite. Information also is available
from OSHA at www.OSHA.gov.
See the section on “Respiratory
Protection” in the chapter “Sample
Applications” in this instruction manual.
Consult and follow any federal, state or
local laws or regulations with respect to
dry and wet cutting, including any
requirements for engineering controls,
work practices and respiratory
protection to reduce exposure to
respirable crystalline silica or other
potentially harmful substances.
WARNING
Breathing asbestos dust is dangerous
and can cause severe or fatal injury,
respiratory illness or cancer. The use
and disposal of asbestos-containing
products have been strictly regulated by
OSHA and the Environmental Protection
Agency. Do not use your concrete cutter
to cut or disturb asbestos, asbestos-
containing products, or products such as
pipes which are wrapped or covered
with asbestos insulation. If you have any
reason to believe that you might be
cutting asbestos, immediately contact
your employer or a local OSHA
representative.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury from fire, do
not cut into any pipe, drum or other
container without first ensuring that it
does not contain a volatile or flammable
substance.
WARNING
When cutting into existing walls, floors or
similar structures, be alert for hidden
hazards such as electrical cables, water
and gas pipes and flammable
substances. Make sure that power,
water and gas have been shut off and
pipes drained before starting to cut.
Always check the other side before
cutting.
Operating Instructions
Ensure sufficient water supply to
diamond abrasive chain – do not allow
diamond abrasive chain to run dry.
Always completely open water shut-off
valve. Always wet cut regardless of the
material to be cut. See chapter entitled
"Sample applications."
WARNING
Never operate near live electric wires.
To reduce the risk of electrocution to you
or bystanders, do not allow water or
sludge to contact live electric wires.
WARNING
Always check the diamond abrasive
chain before use and after
unintentionally striking any object;
frequently check it during use when it is
stopped. Look for cracks and make sure
that it is undamaged and in good
condition and that no pieces have
broken off.
WARNING
Check chain tension at regular intervals
during use (whenever the concrete
cutter is shut off). If the chain becomes
loose while cutting, shut off the engine
and then tighten the chain. Never try to
adjust the chain while the engine is
running. See chapter "Tension diamond
abrasive chain."
WARNING
Never operate the concrete cutter with
the starting-throttle lock engaged as this
does not permit proper control of the
speed of the unit and may lead to
serious injury.
WARNING
In the event of an emergency, switch off
the engine immediately move the slide
control / stop switch to 0 or STOP.
