4. Operation
4.1 Serial Port Operation
4.1.1 Overview
The RFI-148/900250 has two RS-232 serial ports, providing support as shown in Table 1. The serial port pin-
outs can be found in Appendix A.3 on page 59.

4.1.2 Configuration
The rear serial port supports the following configuration options:
Baud rate: 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600 or 115200.
Data bits: 7 or 8.
Parity: None, odd, or even.
Stop bits: 1 or 2.
The front serial port is locked into a specific configuration to ensure a fail-safe way to communicate with the
paging transmitter:
Baud rate: 19200.
Data bits: 8.
Parity: None.
Stop bits: 1.
4.1.3 Statistics
Statistics are maintained for both serial ports. These statistics are listed in Table 30 in Appendix C. All statistics
are reset if power is removed.
