14. Insert the magazine up and into
the magazine well with your left
hand until the magazine release
lock catches (indicated by a
“click” sound).
After assembling your STEYR AUG, check to ensure that it is functioning
correctly as follows:
1. Hold the pistol grip of your
STEYR AUG with your right hand
with your finger off of the trigger
and outside of the trigger guard
and, while holding the magazine
with your left hand, press the
back of the magazine release up
with your left thumb;
2. Pull the magazine down and out
of the magazine well with your
left hand;

Always pull the cocking
slide back with your palm facing
up as shown in the accompanying
photograph to prevent your knuck-
les from being cut or scraped on
any devices, such as optics, that
may be mounted on the Picatinny
rail of the receiver.
