1. Hold the magazine in your left

hand with the base plate on

top;

2. Insert the tip of a cartridge or the

cleaning patch holder into one of

the holes in the base plate of the

magazine and press the retainer

in, while beginning to pull the

base plate forward and off of the

magazine body with your right

hand;

3. While continuing to pull the

base plate forward and off of the

magazine body, keep the retain-

er pressed in the magazine body

with the index finger of your left

hand;

4. Support the retainer with your

right hand and allow the force of

the magazine spring to push it

out of the magazine body;

5. Pull the retainer, magazine spring

and follower out of the magazine

body with your right hand.

To field strip the magazine, follow the instructions below:

The magazine should not be disassembled unless neces-

sary, and does not need to be disassembled for the normal cleaning

of the STEYR AUG.
