The STEYR AUG is now loaded and will fire if the trigger is
pulled with the safety in the “fire” position.
Do not hold the cocking slide and “ride” it forward, allow
it to go forward by itself from the force of the recoil spring. If the bolt
does not close properly either because you “rode” the cocking slide
forward instead of allowing it to close by itself from the force of the
recoil spring or because of the presence of mud, sand or ice, it can be
manually locked into place by using of the cocking slide as a forward
assist.
Using of the cocking slide as a forward assist:
1. Retract the cocking slide approx. 1”.
2. Turn the cocking slide grip inside with your left hand (the cocking
slide and the left thrustpiece are connected now).
3. Move cocking slide forward, until the bolt locks (indicated by a
“click” sound).
