Prepare the Whirlpool and Subfloor (cont.)
If present, remove any landscaping fabric.
NOTE: The whirlpool supports must rest directly on the subfloor.
Build a dam to keep the flooring material clear of the drain area.
Spread a 2″ (5 cm) layer of cement or mortar on the subfloor except where the whirlpool supports
will be located.
Remove the dam.
Position a piece of plastic drop cloth material on top of the cement or mortar bed.
Move the whirlpool into position.
Ensure that the pump support bracket and whirlpool supports do not rest in the bed material.
Verify that the whirlpool is level and resting on all supports.
Clean the whirlpool surface to reduce the risk of surface damage.
If not already present, place a clean drop cloth or other similar material into the bottom and over
the outside edge of the whirlpool. Be careful not to scratch the surface of the unit.
6. Place the Whirlpool Bath on the Subfloor
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not lift the whirlpool by the piping or pump, or use the
piping or pump for structural support of the whirlpool.
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Do not lift the whirlpool from the carton using the apron or
apron braces.
IMPORTANT! Use care to properly position the whirlpool in the recess. Clear all the material away from
the pump support bracket area and whirlpool supports. The pump support bracket and whirlpool
supports must rest directly on the subfloor. Proper placement is critical for attachment to the studs.
IMPORTANT! Ensure that each apron brace is connected at all bosses.
With help, carefully lift the whirlpool into place.
Verify that the pump support bracket and whirlpool supports do not rest in the bed material.
Verify that the whirlpool is resting on all supports. If using an optional mortar or concrete bed,
stand in the whirlpool to settle it to the subfloor.
Verify that the whirlpool is level. The whirlpool should be within 1/8″ (3 mm) of level from side to
side and within 1/4″ (6 mm) from level lengthwise. If the whirlpool is not level, shim under the
whirlpool support feet.
