Instructions for the use of measurement and reference electrodes
Information on use, treatment and warranty
If any difficulties should arise during placing the electrodes into operation,
please do not carry out any manipulations on the electrode which are not per-
mitted. You could endanger your rights under the warranty. Please contact our
company.
1 General Notes
Electrode systems for determining pH consist of a measurement and a refe-
rence electrode. PH contain a measurement and a reference electrode in a
common shaft.
All electrodes are supplied fitted with a soaking cap. The cap contains 3 M
KCl solution in order to ensure that the electrode is always ready for use. The
soaking cap has to be removed before use.
With regard to plug connections it is essential to ensure that they are kept
absolutely clean and dry in order to avoid electrical creepage currents. When
the user carries out any installation work on low-noise coaxial cables it is
important to note that the black layer between the screening braiding and the
inner insulation is semi-conducting and has to be removed completely.
When using electrodes with plastic shaft the user has to check that the pro-
posed cleaning method is compatible with the material.
2 Notes on Electrodes
Glass electrodes
The pH-sensitive membrane glass has to be treated with care and protected
against damage.
