Effects Parameters
VST Amp Rack
VST Amp Rack is a powerful guitar amp simulator. The sound-related parameters (Bass,
Middle, Treble, and Presence) have a significant impact on the overall character and
sound of the amp. Gain cuts or boosts the signal, Bass adds low end to the signal,
Middle boosts the middle frequencies of the signal, and Treble adds high end to the
signal. Presence boosts or dampens the higher frequencies, and Master controls the
volume of the output signal.
• There are a number of presets with guitar-amp-specific effect chains available. Try
out the different presets to find the perfect guitar sound.
Dynamics Effects
Compressor
Compressor reduces the dynamic range of the audio, making softer sounds louder or
louder sounds softer, or both. Threshold determines how much compression is added
to the signal. When the signal goes above the threshold level, the Compressor reduces
the signal; the further to the right you drag, the more compression you get.
Gate
Gate allows you to create a “gate” which lets only audio through if it meets the specified
volume requirement. Threshold sets the volume level that the signal has to reach in order
to be heard. Release controls how quickly the gate closes after it has been opened.
Maximizer
Maximizers are commonly used in the mastering stage to raise the overall level of the
mix. Optimize raises the level of your tracks without clipping the output. Turning this
up all the way creates a brick-wall effect that is often used on drum tracks in electronic
music.
Master EQ
This is an easy-to-use 3-band parametric equalizer. The Low, Mid, and High parameters
allow you to cut or boost the corresponding frequency band. The buttons below the
knobs let you disable the frequency bands.
Filter Effects
DualFilter
This effect filters out certain frequencies while allowing others to pass through. Pos
changes the position, that is, the focus frequency of the filter. With higher values, only
high frequencies are heard, with lower values, only low frequencies are heard. Reso
adds a ringing effect to the filtered sound.
Morph Filter
This effect lets you mix lowpass and highpass filter effects. Frequency changes the
cutoff frequency of the filter. Resonance adds a ringing effect to the filtered sound. The
Morph slider lets you mix the filter output between lowpass (0) and highpass (100).
