Deleting ngerings
You can remove ngerings from notes after you have input them. However, because ngerings
are properties of notes rather than separate items in Dorico Elements, you cannot select and
delete them as you would for other items.
PROCEDURE
1. Select the notes from which you want to remove ngerings.
2. Choose Edit > Fingering > Reset Fingering.
RESULT
All ngerings are removed from the selected notes.
TIP
You can assign your own key command for this action.

Cautionary ngerings
Cautionary ngerings remind players that ngerings specied at previous rhythmic positions
continue to apply to notes that are still sounding.
Dorico Elements automatically shows
cautionary ngerings when you add other ngerings at rhythmic positions where notes with
existing ngerings are still sounding.
By default, cautionary ngerings are shown enclosed in parentheses.

Fingerings for fretted instruments
Fretted instruments, such as the classical guitar, require additional ngering instructions for
both hands due to the complex nature of the music.
Fingerings for fretted instruments use the same fonts as normal ngerings.
