Splitting ows
You can split ows at specic rhythmic positions. Flows in Dorico Elements are independent of
each other, meaning they can contain different players and have different time signatures and
key signatures.
PREREQUISITE
The layout currently open in the music area contains all players with music in the ow, such as a
full score layout.
IMPORTANT
We strongly recommend only splitting ows in layouts that contain all players.
PROCEDURE
1. In Write mode, select a note or item at the position where you want to split the ow.
2. Choose Write > Split Flow.
RESULT
The ow is split into two ows: the existing ow and a new ow that begins from the position of
the item you selected. By default, new ows in full score layouts start on a new page in page view
and are shown on a separate background in galley view.
