Tuplets popover with an example entry
Tuplets button in the Notes toolbox
NOTE
Clicking Tuplets in the Notes toolbox only inputs a single triplet. It does not open the tuplets
popover.
When inputting tuplets with the keyboard, Dorico Elements continues inputting notes as the
specied tuplet until any of the following happens:
You press : to return to inputting normal notes.
You move the caret with the arrow keys.
You stop note input.
Type of tuplet
Popover entry
Triplet, three notes in the space of two. 3, 3:2, or 3 2
Triplet, three notes in the space of four. 3:4 or 3 4
Quintuplet, ve notes in the space of four. 5:4 or 5 4
Quintuplet, ve notes in the space of two. 5:2 or 5 2
Septuplet, seven notes in the space of four. 7:4 or 7 4
Septuplet, seven notes in the space of two. 7:2 or 7 2
Duplet, two notes in the space of three. Often
used in compound meters.
2:3 or 2 3
Quintuplet, ve notes in the space of six. Often
used in compound meters.
5:6 or 5 6
Quintuplet, ve dotted quarter notes in the
space of four.
NOTE
When using a number to specify the beat unit,
you must separate the tuplet ratio from the
beat unit using a space or hyphen.
