VST instrument
Short for “Virtual Studio Technology instrument”, it is a digital plug-in that converts MIDI data
into audio output. It can emulate an existing piece of studio hardware or can be an entirely new
creation.

Write mode
A mode in Dorico Elements where you can input and edit your music, including changing the
rhythmic positions of items, changing the pitch of notes, and deleting notes and items. See also
modes.
