Selecting/Deselecting notes and items individually
You can select existing notes and other notation items individually in the music area, for
example, if you want to add articulations to a selection of notes or delete a short passage of
music.
NOTE
If you want to select a large number of notes/items, we recommend that you use one of the
larger selection methods.
PROCEDURE
1. Select individual notes/items in the music area in any of the following ways:
Ctrl/Cmd-click individual notes/items.
Shift-click adjacent notes/items.
Click a single note/item.
Make a marquee selection around multiple notes/items.
2. Deselect all currently selected items in any of the following ways:
Press Ctrl/Cmd-D.
Click outside of the staves within the music area.

You can make large selections, including selecting the contents of whole staves or the whole
ow.
Select everything in a specic area
You can use the Marquee Tool to specify an area in which you want to select
everything.
Select everything in the whole ow
Press Ctrl/Cmd-A.
Choose Edit > Select All.
Select everything on a single staff
Select the rst note on the staff, hold down Shift, and select the last note on
the staff.
Select the rst note on the staff and choose Edit > Select To End Of System or
Edit > Select To End Of Flow.
