SF-16M CONNECTIONS - Speaker Outputs
The SF-16M includes 16 amplied audio outputs that can be congured as mono, stereo or a combination of both mono
and stereo. Figure 6, shown below, provides examples of each conguration.
NOTE: It is important that all physical speaker output congurations are entered into the SF-16M programming, using the
PC conguration software or the front panel system menu.

Speakers and Impedance
Each ampler output of the SF-16M can support a 4 Ohm speaker load. In many cases only a single speaker is con-
nected per amplier output, so any speaker with a 4 - 8 Ohm impedance rating is acceptable with the SF-16M. However,
in cases where you may wish to connect more than one speaker per output, it is important that you understand speaker
impedance and basic Ohms law.
There are numerous resources which explain imped-
ance and ohms law in detail, so we will not cover
it here. However, for practical purposes, we have
included a chart (Figure 7) which lists a specic limit
on how many speakers can be loaded onto a single
SF-16M amplier output.

NOTE: this table assumes that all speakers on a single channel
are of the same impedance and are connected in parallel. If you
wish to mix a combination of speakers with different impedances
on one channel it will be crucial to use an impedance calculator.

tive that total speaker impedance for any one channel does not go
below 4 Ohms.
