Assigninga valueof characterspace
Besidesbeingableto specifytheactualwidthof thecharacter,thisprinter
allowsyouto specifythe positionin the standardgridwherethe character
willprint.Youmustspecifythedotcolumnin whichtheprintedcharacter
startsandthedotcolumnin whichthecharacterends.Why,youmay ask,
wouldyouwanttodefineacharacterthiswayinsteadofmerelydefting the
overallwidthofthecharacter?Becausethisprinter’sproportionalcharacter
definitionscan also be used to print normal width characters, and by
centeringeventhenarrowcharacteminthecompletegridtheywilllookgood
evenyou amnotprintingthemproportional.
Thethreebytesareusedto specifythewidthof thecharacterandthespace
tobe allowedoneithersideofit.Theleftspace(indotcolumns)is specified
bymOandtherightspaceisspecifiedbym2.Thesecondbyte(ml) specifies
thewidthofthecharacterindots.Byvaryingthewidthofthecharacteritself
andthespacesaroundit,youcanactuallycmateproportion~widthcharacters.
