REPLACINGTHE PRINTHEAD
Thisisnotajobwhich you will need to do very often.The print head has been
designed to give a life of about 200 million dots. In normal everyday use, this
will mean years of life. However, if the print quality is faint, even after you
have changed the ribbon, the print head will
needreplacement.
Onlyuse a replacementprintheadas recommendedby yoursupplier.

Turn OFFthe printer,andremovethepowercable.
2 Iftheprinterhas beeninoperationimmediatelybeforethisoperation,the
printhead willbe hot.
NOTE
Allowtime for the print head to cool before attempting to work on it.

3 Openthe top cover.
4 Remove the ribbon cartridge (as described above)
5 Using a Phillips-typescrewdriver,carefully unscrew the two bolts
securingthe printhead to the printhead assembly(see the illustration
below).
6 Pulltheprintheadfirmlyupwards,releasingthepnntheadcard edgecon-
nectorsfromtheconnectormountedon the chassis.
7 Removetheretainingscrewsandwashersfromtheprintheadassembly.
Putthemon oneside.
8 Take,the new print head,andlocateit in position,makingsurethat the
cardedgeconnectionsfit securelyintothe chassisconnector.
