Youcanactuallyswitchthedensitythatagraphicscommandnormallygives
you.
Whywouldyou wantto do that?If youhavea programcontainingmany
<ESC>K commandsand want to switchto double-densitycESC> L, it
couldmeanchangingalotof commands.It’seasierto sendonecommand
thatchangesthe densityfor cESC> K instead.
To changea command’snormaldensityyou sendthiscommand:
<ESC>? cm
Forc yousubstitutewhichevercommandidentifieryouwantto change(K,
L,YorZ). Andformyouenterthemodenumberofthenewdensityyouwant
thatcommandto have,fromthetableabove.
5.6.5 Nine-pingraphics
The
StarLaserPrinter4readilyacceptsanotherFX-850graphicscommand,
fornine-pingraphics.Allthegraphicscommandsdiscussedso far involve
eight-dotlines, buttheFX-850offersthiscommandbecauseits printhead
actuallyhasninepins.TheFX-850usesit to drawanotherlineof dotsand
speedup theprinting.
Thenine-pingraphicscommand,however,doesnotaffectyourStarLaser-
Printer4’s speed.
Unliketheeight-dotcommands,thisnine-dotcommandneedstwobytesfor
eachcolumnofdata:onebyteforthetopeightpins,plusoneforthebottom
pin.Thoughonlythe mostsignificantbit is actuallyused fromthe second
byte,youhaveto sendthe wholething:
