FX-850 emulationletsyouuseitalicscharactemwithoutdefiningitalicsas

a separatefont,sinceit can storeitalicsin theupperhalf of its symbolset.

To selectitaliccharacters,sendthis command:

Andto returnto uprightcharacters,sendthis command:

<ESC>5

Note: in neitherof thesecommandsdo yousendthe actualnumber4 or 5.

Instead,usethe ASCIIsymbolsfor thosenumbers.

5.5.13 Strokeweight

TheStarLaserl%nter4cancreateboldcharactersbyprintingeachcharacter

twice,slightlyoffset,just liketheFX-850does.To completelyemulatethe

FX-850yourprinterdoesthistwodifferentways,offsettingeitherbelowthe

characters(double-strike)or to the side(emphasized).

To turnon boldprintyousendeitherof thesetwo commands:

(double-strike)

Ifyousendthe@S~ Ecommandyoumayforcetheprintertoselectabold

font,dependingon whichfontyouareusingat themoment.

Youcan bm off the boldprintagainwith thesecommands:

(turnoff emphasized)

*SC> H

(turnoff double-strike)

Tkueenotes:If you try to print subscriptsor superscriptsin double-strike

mode,the double-strikewill be turnedoff. (Thereforeyou may preferto

alwaysuse emphasizedprint to get bold.) The Master Select command

describedbelowcanalsoturnoffemphasizedprint. And<ESC>F will

not

turnoff emphasizedprintif yousetit on withtheMasterSelectcommand.
