11.6.2 Transmitting a Position Request to Another Vessel
1. Press the

quest Directory. This directory uses the Individual Direc-
tory information.

keys to select the “Individual” you want
to know the position of.

key to transmit the posi-
tion request DSC call. (To cancel, press the

6. When the GX1000S receives the position from the polled
vessel, a ringing tone sounds and “RCV” icon appears in
the display. The display will scroll to show the time the
call was received and also “
POS REPLYPOS REPLY

POS REPLY” indication.
7. Press any key to stop the alarm.
8. Press the

key repeatedly to change the display to
view the received data:
z MMSI number or name of the vessel
z Position Time
z Latitude
z Longitude
9. If the GX1000S does not receive a reply,
NO REPLYNO REPLY
NO REPLYNO REPLY
NO REPLY” in-
dication will show on the display. To send again, press
the
[
T
]
key followed by the
[
CALL
(
SET
)
MENU
]
key.
NOTE
If the GX1000S does not receive position data from the polled vessel,
the LCD will show “
NO TIMENO TIME
NO TIMENO TIME
NO TIME” and “
NO POSITIONNO POSITION
NO POSITIONNO POSITION
NO POSITION”.
